Being Slightly Fat Can Be Good For Health

Source:epressreleasesite The idea that weight is harmful has been “exaggerated” and fats can actually live longer, suggests a new study by U.S. scientists. The study by the University of California, based on analysis of 350,000 people in the United States, suggest that obese people for their health at greater risk when obsessively trying to lose weight.

The researchers say the obsession of society with a system is inefficient and often leads to more people and bigger because they want food and binge. It is recommended that people should eat a varied and balanced diet and have “good” amount of exercise, even if they end up carrying some extra pounds, the Daily Mail, citing the Journal of Nutrition.


Researcher Linda Bacon said that although health professionals mean well when they suggest people to lose weight, “our analysis shows that scientists have long interpreted the research data through a biased lens.” The study argues that there is evidence that overweight people live longer than normal. Those who are obese elderly also tend to live longer than older people who are thin.


They are also more likely to survive certain health conditions such as type 2-diabetes, heart disease and kidney failure. Although it is well known that obesity puts people at higher risk of heart disease and other diseases, researchers say , “being fat” is not the case.
